How We Calculate UCAS Points
Updated
We add up the official UCAS Tariff points for each qualification and grade you enter. Every value comes from the official UCAS Tariff tables for the 2027 cycle (version 1.1.4.1), last checked on .
Where the points come from
- Application cycle:
- 2027
- Last checked:
We use the downloadable UCAS Tariff tables, not third-party lists.
How the total is worked out
Each grade has a fixed number of points. We add them together. Tariff points are whole numbers, so there is no rounding.
For example, AAB at A level is 48 + 48 + 40 = 136 points.
How we find grades for a total
The points to grades tool and the points pages list every combination of three A levels that adds up to exactly that total, plus any single BTEC or T level grade worth the same. There are 56 different 3 A level combinations.
